Much
of North America is suffering higher frequency of
heavy rainfall events. The sad news is that if you
can’t keep water out of your road foundations,
construction sites and earthwork structures, your
infrastructure will fail the resiliency test. With
extreme weather events now the rule, even areas
currently in drought conditions will face extreme
wet weather events including flash floods. There
is the real likelihood of heavily saturated, washed
out, or water-related damage to civil and transportation
infrastructure if the aggregate and soil materials
were not stabilized against moisture intrusion during
initial construction.
The
good news is stabilization product technology is
available, at low cost, which is uniquely effective
in converting water suctioning soils and aggregates
into water-resistant and water-shedding materials.
Treatment with EMC SQUARED System stabilizer products
can make aggregates and soils more capable of retaining
their load-bearing capacity and still able to pass
the resiliency test after extreme wet-weather events.
Keeping water out is the name of the game, and the
hyperlinks to case and research studies below will
demonstrate just how effective this innovative technology
can be in the construction of more resilient infrastructure.
